Q: What is the difference between Embedded App and Desktop App?

The Docuflair Embedded App is an app that runs directly on the touchscreen of a multifunction printer. The Desktop App is a Windows application that controls document scanners via TWAIN or WIA interfaces and is operated from a PC.

Note: The Fujitsu ScanSnap series (iX1300, iX1600 etc.) does not support TWAIN/WIA and uses proprietary software only. These scanners are not compatible with the Docuflair Desktop Scan App.

Each printer manufacturer offers its own software platform (e.g. HyPAS, EIP, OSA) that allows apps to run on the device display. Docuflair supports several of these platforms for seamless workflow integration. Here you can see which ones are available and whether additional licences are required.

HyPAS Embedded App

Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions

Java/web services platform by Kyocera for native apps on the MFP display. Enables custom applications to run directly on the device.

Which devices are compatible with Docuflair?

Docuflair supports over 250 device models from more than 20 manufacturers. These include Multifunction Printers (MFPs) from Xerox, Kyocera, Sharp, Epson, Olivetti, UTAX, Triumph Adler and CopyStar, as well as Document Scanners from Ricoh/Fujitsu, Canon, Kodak Alaris, HP, Brother, Avision, Panasonic, Plustek, Visioneer and Microtek.

What is the difference between Embedded App and Desktop App?

The Docuflair Embedded App is an app that runs directly on the touchscreen of a multifunction printer. Employees operate all functions at the device itself. The Desktop App is a Windows application that controls document scanners via TWAIN or WIA interfaces and is operated from a PC.

Do I need additional licences for my device?

That depends on the platform. For Kyocera (HyPAS), Sharp (OSA) and Xerox (EIP), the platform licence is already included in the Docuflair licence. Epson Open Platform is included with the WorkForce Enterprise purchase – Docuflair handles the Product Key registration automatically. For document scanners (TWAIN/WIA), there are no additional platform costs.

Can I use Docuflair with my existing printer or scanner?

What are the system requirements for Docuflair?
